Headlines, 1/11

We had a wonderful first week back at school.  Ms. Porcelli did an amazing job of holding down the fort while I was home with a sick kiddo, and the students were on their best behavior.  Kudos to both!!  I am looking forward to a healthy and happy week :)

Math: Today and tomorrow we will be reviewing for our Unit 4 test.  Our math groups will be tomorrow and we will start our new unit on Perimeter and Area next week.

 Writing/Grammar:  This week we will be reviewing adverbs, adverbial phrases, and clauses, and will continue to practice diagramming complex sentences.

Literature: We are enjoying the Secret Garden and will continue to read and discuss chapters 4-7 this week.

Science:  We are continuing our plant unit this week by focusing on the three types of plants, seeded, vascular, and non-vascular.  Remind your students that they should be reviewing their notes nightly in preparation for tests and quizzes!

History:  This week we will be learning about British Civil War and Elizabethan England. We will finish the week by creating a newspaper article over King Charles.

Important Dates

• Wednesday, Jan 13th: Unit 4 Math Test
• Friday, Jan 15th- Denim Day!  Students may wear jeans and spirit or uniform shirt.
• Monday, Jan. 16th- MLK Day, no school.
