Math: This week in math we will cover finding the area of rectangular prisms, triangles and parallelograms. Our math groups will be on Thursday from 8:15-9:15. If you would like to volunteer just shoot me an email!
Writing/Grammar: We are moving on to helping and linking verbs this week in Grammar. The students will come home with a list today of the linking verbs and will be quizzed over these on Thursday.
Literature: We are enjoying The Secret Garden and will continue to read and discuss the book in class. Our focus this week will be on characterization.
Science: We are continuing our plant study and will begin a new experiment today based on the growth of seeded plants. Students should review their notes for a short, open note quiz on Wednesday.
History: We have decided to spend one more week covering The Glorious Revolution. We will be creating a time-line of rulers and will review for the test. The test will be Friday!
- After a lengthy discussion with our fifth grade team, we have decided that we will be using math groups as a review within our curriculum. Because of this, they will no longer be every Wednesday. This week we will have math groups on Thursday from 8:15-9:15. If you are able to help, please email me and let me know. Thank you so much for all of your support in this area.
- Great Hearts Day will be Thursday, February 11th. This a wonderful day where we celebrate friendship. We will be doing some fun class activities and students are welcome to bring in home-made cards for all their classmates that focus on friendship and are free of pop-culture. If your child chooses to make cards, please be sure they give one to each student in our class in the spirit of the day.
